The Bichon Frise Dog Breed Information:

History: Bichon Frise is considered to be the oldest breed of the dogs. Earlier they were found in the Spain and originated in the near Mediterranean areas. They were meant in travelling from one continent to another by the sailors and were used as barter by them. After its success in Spain, they were introduced as a new breed by the Spanish seamen to the Tenerife or the Canary Island. After some time of the voyages of the Italian sailors, the discovery of the Bichon again came into existence, which then became the best choice or favorite for all of the Italian nobles in the content, where they were returned as a credit. The ancestors of the Bichon Frise were considered to be the sailor’s dog, which were not at all water or retriever dogs, but due to the inherited affinity they enjoy water and retrieving. They also move on boats being a companion dog.

Later it got success in the France and after that in the Spain became popular, where they were used in the Spanish schools for some work. In the late 19th century, these dogs became the common dogs, which were found roaming in the streets and performing several tricks and fun activities in the fairs and the circuses.

In the year 1933 and in the month of March, they got accepted by the National Kennel Club in the France. In those years, the dogs of this breed were called by two names that are “Tenerife” and “Bichon”. They were later proposed by the president of the Federation Cynologique Internationale with a new name of “Bichon Frise” because of their characteristic features.

Afterwards, they got famous in Australia in the middle of the year 1960. They were taken to the United States in the year 1955, and then finally originated from the USA for the development of the breed.

Appearance: A small dog with sturdy expressions and plumed tail touching its back. They have dark eyes. They weigh about 5-10 kg. They used to stand on their withers. They have a rounded skull and have a muzzle with no point. They have a black nose with curly hair densely coated on its body with very little shedding. Cream, apricot, etc. are the colors that are seen around its ears, paws or snout covering about 10 percent of its body. They are available in only one color that is pure white that has no recognition of the other colors on the body. The proportional size of its hands and legs is in accordance to the size of its body. The level of its intelligence is medium high.

Temperament: The breed of the dogs is considered cheerful and merry by the American Kennel club. This breed has maintained its standards as affectionate, sensitive, gentle mannered and playful. They love to be in the company of its owners and gain their attention. They are very active and energetic along with a playful nature for children. They are very instantly responding to the reinforcement or training and show intense level of obedience, if trained and reinforced at an early age.
