Just found a mysterious wire/medical looking device coming out of my Australian Shepherd’s chest cavity. Should I be worried?

Like the title says: I’ve recently adopted a 4 year old miniature Australian Shepherd (July 3rd), and just today I found what appears to be a bent metal wire in the center of his chest cavity. It appears to start as a single wire that splits into double braided wire about a centimeter before his skin. He has had no vet problems at least from what the previous owners and their records show. He did come from a horse farm, although it seems more like a medical device than something he could have impaled himself on. Any ideas?

He is going to the vet, but the appointment isn’t for another few days.

EDIT: Solved, it was spear grass that was a little embedded in his skin and held there by his fur. Thank you all so much!
